Saturday Performance Girl of the Holler
This Saturday March 28th @ 7:00PM , I will be telling stories again with my Storytelling Show GIRL OF THE HOLLER. Just a heads up–The telephone number on the flyer is wrong.
336. 786.4478
Girl of the Holler is about me and my Dad. It also has mature themes including mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, incarceration, childhood trauma, and grief. It also includes strong language and references to emotional and physical abuse.
But it is a comedy.
I had the pleasure of performing it at the Cherry Orchard Theatre this past summer, and I have loved reading what the Cherry Orchard Theatre says about it for this coming Saturday.
Here are their descriptions. I love them.
“Growing up in small-town Appalachia with a moonshiner father… navigating family, truth, and mental health… this story is described as “Funny, Frank, Real.”
If you love honest storytelling that holds both humor and heart, this is one you won’t want to miss. Come experience an evening that feels a little like sitting on a front porch and hearing the truth told plain.
This moving performance shares the story of growing up in small-town Appalachia, blending humor, honesty, and raw emotion as it explores family, resilience, and mental health. It’s intimate, real, and unforgettable.
Step into spring with an evening of storytelling that will stay with you long after the curtain falls
There are stories that stay with you… and then there are stories that live in your bones.
Girl of the Holler is a one-woman memoir performance by Christina Boyd Holland—raw, funny, and deeply real.
Set in small-town Appalachia, this story explores growing up with a moonshiner father while navigating mental health and identity.
Appalachia isn’t just a place—it’s a voice, a rhythm, a memory.
Girl of the Holler brings that voice to life in a deeply personal memoir about:
• Family ties
• Mental health
• Growing up in the hills
• And the complicated love between a daughter and her father
This is storytelling that doesn’t flinch.
One night only. Don’t miss it.”
I hope to see you all on Saturday! Thanks so much! You Rock!!!
